ICOS data labelling and quality assurance

All raw measurement data from the individual stations are sent to the respective Thematic Centres, where they are quality controlled and evaluated following standardized data handling procedures. The data and elaborated products are then stored in a central database, from where they are made accessible to end users via the ICOS Carbon Portal.

For a research station to be certified as an official ICOS station, it as to go through a labelling process. The process starts with the station manager applying for ICOS certification, and ends when it has been assured that the station fulfill the quality standards set by ICOS. The evaluation process is performed by the Thematic Centres and differs slightly between the themes.
